Navigli and Porta Genova suit restaurants and evenings out, but recent reviews about room position and noise matter if you want rest. Centrale is practical for late arrivals and early departures. Look at the exact street rather than relying on the station name: conditions differ within the same area.
For a two-night stay, avoiding one daily metro change can be worth more than a small saving on the room. Compare door-to-door journeys at the times you intend to travel.
Three days to adapt
Day one: combine Duomo, Galleria, La Scala and Brera. Reserve visits that genuinely require a time slot and keep the rest flexible. Day two: pair Castello Sforzesco with Parco Sempione, then choose Porta Nuova, Isola or CityLife rather than crossing the city repeatedly.
Day three: choose one major museum in the morning and continue towards Porta Ticinese and Navigli later. Leave time for meals and walking; this is an outline, not a package with admission included.
Airports and connections
Milan is served by Malpensa, Linate and Bergamo Orio al Serio. Linate connects to the metro, Malpensa has rail and coach options, and Bergamo is mainly connected by shuttle services. Check current services and disruption with the official operator before travelling.
Add transfer time and cost to the flight price. MXP, LIN and BGY are not interchangeable, particularly for a late arrival or early departure. Your accommodation address affects which connection is most useful.
